Gwangju Biennale Exhibition Hall (Proposal)
The exhibition hall serves as a cultural hub, integrating the city and harmonizing with its natural surroundings. Overcoming the site’s fragmented context of highways and roads, it functions as a Culture Processor and Keystone uniting the cultural district. Anchored by north- south and east-west axes, the design creates a pedestrian network that connects surrounding areas. Its floating rectangular form acts as an urban landmark, enhancing accessibility and fostering cultural exchange through open spaces for events and activities. Surrounding public spaces, including bike- and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, recreational areas, and educational facilities, provide a sustainable and inclusive environment for residents and visitors alike.
